Here’s a stirring tale of how one radio boss managed to snatch
victory from the jaws of defeat. Talk Radio fell victim to the World Cup
ticket agency scam and was left four tickets short for the
Scotland/Brazil game for which it had assembled a party of ten.
After managing to acquire one ticket to allow all of Talk’s seven
invited guests to see the match, three members of staff from the radio
station started to make their way to watch the game in a pub.
But, as they walked past a turnstile, the quick-thinking sales director,
Tim Bleakley, spotted the similarity between his red corporate Talk
Radio T-shirt and the official red polo shirts worn by FIFA officials -
all of whom were able to move freely inside and outside the ground.
Without hesitation, Bleakley turned and sauntered through the turnstile,
flashing his Talk Radio identity pass.
He then tucked himself into the queue of celebrities and VIPs and was
duly ushered across a red carpet to watch the game from a front-row
