Anyone who says agencies aren’t committed to their clients should
check out Publicis.
George, the clothing line from Asda, bestows a ’supplier of the month’
award on the company that serves it above and beyond the call of
duty.
This month it has decided that its agency, Publicis, is a worthy
winner.
The agency’s board account director, Amanda Floyd, and her team,
recently proved their worth when putting together a ’back to school’
campaign for George.
Delays on the Oxford-based shoot meant limited post-production time and
tight presentation schedules. So George Davis, the managing director of
George and a keen pilot, agreed a quick touchdown at Oxford airport to
meet the account team at a nearby hotel.
Then he realised that he’d have to pre-book a take-off slot from Oxford
so the rushes definitely had to be available when he arrived to allow
him time to watch, approve and get back in the cockpit. Unfortunately,
the ads weren’t due to be finished until that morning in Soho. It seemed
the agency might have to put its faith in a courier. Obviously, a rather
worrying concept.
Floyd came to the rescue. She jumped on her Honda VFR750, drove to
London, approved the final edit and returned to Oxford in time to meet
Davis. The grateful Davis has since hung a picture of a leather-clad
Floyd in the company’s reception to inspire other suppliers. We hope
it’s bona fide biking leathers she’s wearing.
