Congratulations to the 26 runners from Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO,
Wunderman Cato Johnson, Ogilvy & Mather and Channel 4 who completed the
New York marathon at the weekend. And commiserations to AMV’s managing
director and organiser of the agency’s effort, Andrew Robertson, whose
knee gave way after 12 miles and who finished the race in agony.
Robertson’s agony was increased when he was defeated by his arch-rival,
AMV’s Martin Hummel, who came second in the agency’s group, taking just
under four hours to complete the race.
The runners are thought to have raised more than pounds 50,000 for the
Big House Project, a halfway house for homeless people that Robertson
got involved with after meeting a homeless man in the street.
We’re also impressed that AMV’s Justin Doherty completed the race in his
Chester Cheetah outfit. The outfit was last donned by Gary Lineker in a
Walkers ad and proved popular with the marathon watchers - Doherty was
more photographed than the winner
