Online advertising helps companies to increase their customer

retention rates and build brand awareness, according to research from a

number of online companies including the internet ad agency Avenue A,

DoubleClick and Procter & Gamble. The research compared control groups

with a test group that was exposed to online ads. The study found that

households exposed to online ads resulted in higher volumes of total

sales than compared with other ways of advertising.
