Optimad.com, the European web-based media sales platform, has

received a pounds 5 million funding boost from the venture capital

companies 3i Group and Digital Mountain, which is owned by

Communications Equity Associates.

Optimad.com will use the pounds 5 million to develop its technology and

to roll out its existing service to more European markets. It also plans

to add broadcast media to its portfolio of outdoor, press and online

media.

The head of marketing and sales, Dominic Coupe, who recently joined from

MediaVest, said: ’We want to cover all types of media, including

TV.’

Media planners and buyers can browse the site to find out what space

media owners have available. They may also put in specific requests.

Optimad.com then carries out all administration for the transaction.

Sites are live in the UK and Germany and the web-based media company is

in the process of recruiting staff to set up a site in France, in order

to cover each of the major language groups.

Optimad.com was formed last month when the UK online sales company

adtender.com and the German media specialist adfora.com merged.

Adtender.com’s first website went live in April.

Derek Morris, a founding partner of the media communications specialist

Unity, was recently appointed as a non-executive chairman of

optimedia.com to help develop its business beyond its UK newspaper and

magazine portfolio.
