Walsh Simmons, the direct marketing agency which recently rebranded
as an e-commerce entrepreneur, is preparing to launch a major retail
Bargains.com, which is part of the trend among web agencies to create
their own branches in cyberspace, will be launched by the end of the
The portal will go head-to-head with online shopping directories such as
the recently launched Kelkoo.com and Asda’s Captain Valuemad.
According to Steve Walsh, the managing director of Walsh Simmons, the
company is in advanced talks with a number of big-name online
The agency’s clients include the online car buying site Autobytel and
Walsh said: ’The new service will offer much more choice than current
online directories,’ adding that he had been hanging on to the lucrative
domain name for the past four years.
’There is not one definitive online location where people can go to
search according to their interests, and which can provide everything
you need,’ Walsh claimed.
Walsh Simmons has already launched a series of online initiatives
including Minibreaks. com and Easycover.com.
The company’s international directory for hotel rooms, laterooms.co.uk,
has 3,000 hotels on its database and, according to Walsh, gets more than
9,000 page impressions a day.
The agency is planning to launch a marketing campaign for Bargains.com
in the second week of September, which it will create in-house.
