Campaign's owner buys MediaWeek

Haymarket, the publishing group that owns Campaign, is strengthening its position in the marketing and communications sector with the acquisition of MediaWeek.

Haymarket has bought the title, which recently celebrated its 20th anniversary, from Quantum Business Media as part of a portfolio of business magazines.

Quantum Business Media has embarked on a disposal of its business-to-business publishing interests - it recently sold its pub trade magazine The Publican for £21 million to United Business Media.

MediaWeek reported an ABC distribution of 16,297 for the period July 2003 to June 2004.

Martin Durham, the chairman and managing director of Haymarket Business Publications, said: "The opportunity to acquire this portfolio makes sound sense for Haymarket, as it enables us to strengthen our position in several market sectors with good-quality publications and events which complement our existing portfolio well."
