Canadian Group begins global acquisition strategy

- Envoy Communications Group, the parent company of Canadian agency Communiqu, has acquired US ad agency Hampel Stefanides for an undisclosed sum.

- Envoy Communications Group, the parent company of Canadian agency Communiqu, has acquired US ad agency Hampel Stefanides for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition of Hampel Stefanides, which has offices in both New York and San Francisco, gives Envoy its first presence in the US. Envoy says the purchase is the first stage of a global acquisition strategy to create an international marketing services company.

Agency principals Larry Hampel, Dean Stefanides and Brian Goodall will stay at the helm of Hampel Stefanides as co-creative directors.

Hampel Stefanides, which claims billings of $150 million, counts Castrol Motor Oil, CDnow, Aer Lingus, BASF Corporation and Cox Interactive Media among its clients.
