Cannes: FCB Johannesburg lands Press Grand Prix with Lego 'periscope'

FCB Johannesburg and Lego have scooped the Press Grand Prix in one of the closest votes of the awards so far.

After what Dave Droga, the president of the Press jury, described as a "painfully long process", the Lego "periscope" ad pipped a Levi's campaign from JWT India to the top prize. Droga said Lego won the vote "marginally" and praised the ad for its "simplicity and purity".

Chemistry Dublin's work for National Newspapers of Ireland and Ogilvy & Mather Thailand's Kodak campaign scooped gold Lions and were flagged up as strong contenders for the top prize.

No UK agency scored a gold Lion, but DDB London picked up six silvers for its Marmite work and Ogilvy & Mather London won a silver for the GlaxoSmithKline "to do list" ad.
