Capital and Emap announce digital radio alliance

If their application is successful Capital and Emap will simulcast their existing stations, resulting in their analogue licences being automatically renewed for a further six to eight years.

The two companies will use their radio expertise to provide a platform for a range of innovative services from other providers that reflect a diversity of choice for listeners.

David Mansfield chief executive of Capital Radio, said: "We are delighted to have formed this alliance with Emap, whose stations provide a good complementary fit with our own services. Although it will take time digital radio will be an important and exciting broadcast medium in the future and we intend to be at the forefront of developing local digital radio."
