Capital, which owns stations including London's Capital FM and th alternative music station, Xfm, yesterday reported a 3.6 per cent lift in pre-tax profits to £37.1 million in the year to September 30.

Capital said its main aim was to have a national presence and this could be achieved through the internet.

It refused to reveal more details about its plan other than to confirm the £5.5 million investment in the project.
