Carat hires Denford for comms position

Carat has strengthened its international planning offering by appointing the ex-JWT director Tom Denford.

Denford, the former director of communications planning at JWT in New York, will join Carat's global management team as the head of communications strategy, and will work across brands including Adidas, Coca-Cola and Diageo.

The hiring of Denford, who left JWT in July, follows Carat's recent creation of a global client management structure. He will report to David Indo, the president of global clients at Carat, and Malcolm Hunter, who is the president of communications strategy for Aegis Media.

Denford joined JWT from Mediaedge:cia, where he was an account director for business development across the EMEA region. He has ten years of UK and international experience as a planner.

Hunter said: "Communications strategy is the hot issue. We believe we lead the industry in this field, and investing in people such as Tom, who has a great strategic brain and an ability to make things happen, will help us stay ahead."
