Carat set to pick up £8 million Disney media

Disney Resorts is set to consolidate its £8 million UK media planning and buying business into Carat.

The agency is said to have won the business after a closed head-to-head pitch against ZenithOptimedia, following a review launched in July.

The two agencies previously split the account, with Carat looking after the Walt Disney World resort in Florida and ZenithOptimedia responsible for the Disneyland Paris media account.

Disney's separate European media business for Disneyland Paris, which is also held by ZenithOptimedia, was unaffected by the review.

The company's decision to consolidate the UK resorts business follows a pan-European pitch process for the wider Disney account in 2008, which resulted in Carat landing the £100 million Disney Studios and Home Entertainment business, while ZenithOptimedia won the £20 million pan-European account for Disneyland Paris.
