- Carat has announced its intention to launch a major Asian network with the opening of joint venture agency in Thailand seen as the first step.

The new Thailand office is a joint venture between Carat holding company Aegis and Japanese owned ad agency network Chuo Senko, which has offices in nine countries in the region.

The new agency will be known as Carat Media Services (Thailand). It will be 51% owned by Chuo Senko with Aegis holding the reaming 49% of equity.

A spokesman for Carat said the decision to invest in Thailand during the country's economic downturn was based on a long-term strategy to establish a major Asian media network.
