Abbott Mead Vickers was set up in 1977, when three friends, David Abbott, Peter Mead and Adrian Vickers decided to start their own agency in a tiny office in Mayfair. We are 28 years old this year and the largest agency in the UK. That is something we are very proud of, although we never really set out to be the biggest ... just the best. We are part of BBDO, the largest agency network within Omnicom Group Inc, with 303 offices in 77 countries.
We have a strong client list, which includes BT, Mars, Sainsbury's, PepsiCo, Camelot, Royal Mail, BBC, RSPCA, Guinness, The Economist and the Government, working with the Department of Health and the Department for Transport.

New graduates arrive at AMV in the autumn to begin a five-week period of training. They are allocated an agency mentor and are instructed in all aspects of the advertising process across a range of disciplines.
They will develop an understanding of every department within the agency.
Beyond their formal training period, new graduate recruits take part in IPA foundation exams as well as an off-site course with AMV Group companies, which helps build an understanding of integrated communications outside the core discipline of advertising.

After the initial five-week structured training programme, graduates are given the title of account executive and allocated to client business.
This means they are challenged from the start and can progress speedily through the ranks. For example, the client services director, Ian Pearman, joined as a graduate trainee in 1996 and was on the board six years later.
