Carlton launches £20m online business

- Carlton Communications is to establish a new-media company - Carlton Online - and has recruited Carol Dukes, formerly the joint managing director of EMAP Online, to head up the operation.

- Carlton Communications is to establish a new-media company - Carlton Online - and has recruited Carol Dukes, formerly the joint managing director of EMAP Online, to head up the operation.

Carlton Online will recruit 30 staff initially and intends to create a number of new businesses around the Internet. The company will also co-ordinate Carlton's existing online services and websites.

According to June de Moller, managing director of Carlton: "Carlton is a screen based media company and online services are a fast-growing business area. We are delighted that Carol is joining us to head up Carlton Online. She has an excellent track record in creating new revenue streams in this area."
