The UK is to get its first masthead TV programme in March when

Carlton Food Network, Carlton Television’s cable channel, and IPC’s

Ideal Home magazine launch the series, Ideal Home Cooks.

The collaboration, which will include cross-editorial promotions,

follows the Independent Television Commission’s proposal to throw open

the sponsorship rules to allow cable and satellite channels to create

programmes around existing magazine formats.

Janet Goldsmith, the managing director of Carlton Food Network, said

that the two media shared a common target audience: ’We both appeal to

housewives with children who are aspirational, but are looking for

accessible inspiration.’
