- The US television network CBS is continuing its strategy of swapping advertising airtime for a slice of equity in web firms in a deal with an automotive internet service.

The agreement with Wrenchead.com, a website that offers surfers the ability to search and order parts for any make or model of car, sees CBS provide $33 million-worth of advertising and promotion for a 22 per cent equity stake.

It is the ninth such deal that CBS has cut this year, bringing its investment in the internet to more than $600 million.
