Varig Brazilian Airlines has agreed to put its name to Jazz FM’s

revamped travel programme.

Sponsorship credits will be broadcast before and after The Travel Show,

which is scheduled to air between 7pm and 9pm every Thursday.

The deal will get under way on 3 August and will last for six


Varig Brazilian Airlines - a first-time advertiser on Jazz FM - has

purchased a simulcast sponsorship package. This means the sponsorship

will be broadcast simultaneously on Jazz FM 102.2 in London and Jazz FM

in the North-west.

The relaunched show will feature travel reports from locations known for

their jazz and blues plus regular celebrity interviews. The writer Will

Self has been booked to appear on the show to talk about his


David Wells, head of sponsorship and promotions, and Natalie Shepard,

account manager at Clear Channel Radio Sales, negotiated the deal with

Acumen Marketing, which looks after Varig Brazilian Airlines.

Creative for the sponsorship was produced inhouse at Clear Channel Radio

Sales. The strapline is ’Jazz from The Travel Show guide.’

Wells said: ’This is the first deal I have signed off since I joined

Clear Channel and it should be the first of many.’

Cesar Lima Santos, general manager UK and Ireland at Varig Brazilian

Airlines, said: ’Jazz plays an important part in Brazilian culture so

the fit is perfect. Jazz FM listeners love travel and Latin Amercian
