Cedergren joins from the Swedish agency Forsman & Bodenfors. He has worked in interactive marketing and advertising for 12 years, and has won 18 Cyber Lions in Cannes, including one Grand Prix for his work with Volvo.
Cedergren said: "AKQA has both its heart and its head in the right place. Its focus is innovative work, which leads to good results for clients. I'm looking forward to starting AKQA in Amsterdam, and I am excited about putting together a world-class team."
The Amsterdam office will be AKQA's sixth. The AKQA chief executive, Tom Bedecarre, said: "With this office, and the appointment of Cedergren as the executive creative director, we're in a great position to provide clients with innovation globally."
Before he joined Forsman & Bodenfors, Cedergren founded the digital agency Starlet Deluxe, which merged with the pan-European digital agency Abel & Baker.
