Cellnet is looking for a new direct marketing agency following a
secret split with OgilvyOne in April.
An invitation to tender has been circulated among agencies to find a
partner for Cellnet’s entire direct marketing business. It is likely
that a single agency will be appointed, rather than creating a
roster.
The move is not thought to affect Clarke Hooper’s hold on the sales
promotion side of the mobile communications business. Clarke Hooper,
which is Cellnet’s sales promotion agency of record, has been handling
direct marketing for the company on a caretaker basis since OgilvyOne’s
split.
The process is at the procurement stage - at which point agencies are
submitting their company credentials - and agencies have not yet
suggested strategies.
A source at OgilvyOne confirmed that the agency had finished working
with Cellnet in an amicable split.
Cellnet’s marketing department has gone through a series of changes this
year. In January, Ed Carter was drafted in from BT by the then marketing
director, Simon Esberger, who himself left in September after only eight
months in the job.
