Channel 5 unveils movie plans

The features include first terrestrial showings of Starship troopers, Lethal weapon 4, The Negotiator and George of the Jungle.

The drive will be bolstered by reshowings of other major titles such as Good Fellas, Blade Runner, Close Encounters of the Third Kind and Rambo 1, 2 and 3.

Channel 5 controller of acquisitions, Jeff Ford, said: "For the rest of 2000 and 2001 we will be giving our viewers an unmatchable programme of movies.

Channel 5 currently has deals struck with Warners, Buena Vista International Television and Colombia and plans to premier Armageddon, The Matrix and Wild, Wild West over the next two years.
