Umbro, the Manchester football clothing company, has ended its

five-year relationship with DMB&B in favour of the local agency,

Cheetham Bell.

The move signals a shift by Umbro towards more integrated support for

the stars and the teams it sponsors.

Peter Draper, Umbro’s director of brand marketing Europe, stressed the

split with DMB&B was amicable: ’We agreed reluctantly to part on the

basis that we now have a different emphasis in our advertising.’

Cheetham Bell will now be responsible for all Umbro’s advertising

including below-the-line work, previously handled by IMP. No decision

has yet been made on media buying, which is currently with MediaVest.
