Effects-driven short film from agency BETC merges cinema and haute cuisine for new French network
Great television requires the best ingredients: fresh velociraptor eggs, knights on ice, explosions flambé and a light dusting of Crown Vic. Paris-based agency BETC brings all of these elements together in a madcap tour of an imaginative cinematic kitchen for Canal, a new television network created from the merger of two related networks. Canal plays an eclectic mix of French, British and American TV shows, cartoons, kids’ programming and Japanese anime—much of which appears in the 60-second film. The spot debuted on French TV over the weekend, and an English version was released online Tuesday. A two-minute behind-the-scenes video demonstrates many of the digital and live-action techniques used to create the spot.
