Clear Channel, the parent company of Adshel, is expanding its
European presence with its entry into the Dutch outdoor market, the
winning of its first major Italian contract and consolidation of its
business in Germany.
Through a 51 per cent stake in the Dutch outdoor and ambient media
company Hillenaar Outdoor Advertising, Clear Channel has secured a
presence in the Dutch outdoor market. Hillenaar was founded ten years
ago and as well as owning display panels in cafes, schools and
universities, has a network of billboards at sports centres, bus
shelters and mega motorway panels.
For Hillenaar the association will enable it plug into Clear Channel's
global Adshel development brand and product range as it pitches for new
Clear Channel has bought a minority stake in the German street furniture
company Wall AG, which operates 20,000 street furniture panels across
Europe and is present in 56 German cities.
Coline McConville, the chief operating officer of Clear Channel
International, said: "Wall now plans to expand into other markets and we
are pleased to invest in that vision. We regard Wall as a high-growth
Clear Channel's furniture division, Adshel, has also won a nine-year
contract to supply street furniture to the City of Naples. The business
was won following a pitch against JC Decaux, Cemusa and Viacom
Last week AdShel announced that it had won Singapore's pounds 353
million street furniture contract after pitching against JC Decaux.
