Close-Up: 24 hours with ... Debbbie Klein, WCRS

Name: Debbie Klein
Job: Chief executive, WCRS
Professional mission: Do the right thing
Personal mantra: Cool head, firm hand, warm heart

6.40am Woken by Natasha, who's two-and-a-half. She wants to go and find fairies in the garden. Persuade her that watching Dora the Explorer is a better bet.

7.30am Oatibix with Natasha, then hand over to the woman I could not live without, our nanny, Lenka.

8.45am Arrive at work and talk to Julian Hough about the global Nokia Siemens business. Engine was up against the big networks and we won it.

9.00am E-mail and talk to Josie about Wacl stuff.

9.30am Review BMW work with Leon.

10.30am Review plans for Engine's first birthday party. All ten Engine companies are representing the future in their rooms at the party. The Cuban Brothers will be there. Josie can't believe I've never heard of them, but then she's never heard of the Koala Brothers!

11.15am Look at a director's treatment for Transport for London Safer Travel at Night with Yan Elliot and Luke Williamson.

12.00pm Robin (Wight) pops in to share version 47b of his theory - The Peacock's Tail. Revisit my elaborate plans to sabotage his lunchbox.

1.00pm Lunch with Tim Davie to find out why Rainey Kelly Campbell Roalfe/Y&R and Fallon pipped us to the BBC roster.

1.20pm James Murphy and Rob Forshaw sit down at the table next to us. Relieved to see James looks more horrified than I do. They move.

2.30pm New-business update with Matt Edwards. We turn down a pitch, because we're pitching for Sky. And because everyone's pitched out following ten pitches and eight wins this year.

3.00pm Will Orr and I go through 2007 budgets with Peter Scott. He's happy (but then he would be, he's just bought a new company).

3.30pm Prepare for "Emap Beauty and the Brands" conference I'm chairing by e-mailing panelists who I've never met. It's like a blind date.

5.30pm Look at the work we're doing for the launch of the new Mini.

6.45pm Get home and turn off my mobile. Natasha hates it if I take calls when I'm home. She yells: "Mummy, no talking." It can be unsettling for clients. I wonder if she'd work on Robin?

9.00pm Dinner with Max and watch The Sopranos on Sky +.

10.00pm Ocado shopping, e-mails.

11.30pm Bed.
