Close-up: 24 Hours with ... Kate Harris, Chief executive, Nabs

Name: Kate Harris

Job Chief: executive, Nabs

Professional mission: Raise as much money as possible to help those advertising people who find themselves out of work or in trouble

Professional mantra: Ask for as much help as you can from as many people as you can

7.30am Watch the news headlines, then walk along the river from Barnes to Hammersmith tube. This morning, rather than the Metro, I read Complicity by Iain Banks.

9.00am Arrive at the office, check e-mails and diary.

9.30am Regular weekly catch-ups with my heads of fundraising, finance, support and careers. There is a lot going on at the moment as we are planning several new initiatives for the New Year.

10.30am Meeting with Linda Smith at Capital Radio to discuss its support for February's Big Bash, but also a chance for a good gossip.

11.30am Interview with a journalist who is writing an article about Nabs for Adformatie, the Dutch version of Campaign. We constantly battle for awareness and understanding but it can't be that bad if we are becoming known outside the UK.

12.15pm Quick pre-exec meeting with Grant Duncan to swap notes. John Banks, the new president, joins us to discuss what his ambitions are for his two-year stint. He has got some great ideas.

1.15pm Lunch with three ex-Leagas Delaney colleagues - Ian, Will and Tim - who now have their own agency, Vinnie. I persuade them to work with me on the next Nabs film. Excited to work with them again - we worked on "perfect day" together, many moons ago.

2.30pm Spend two hours re-reading presentations that have been given by our Fast Forward delegates (I am a judge on the course). The client this year is Barnardo's and they have been fantastic. I'm thinking Nabs should be the client next year.

4.30pm Daily conversation with my best friend Jane, without whom I would go completely nuts. Laugh constantly for about five minutes. Very important.

4.45pm Big Bash status meeting. Can't believe it but we have already sold half the tables. Whoever wants to come had better get booking - 9 February, the Hilton! We had a waiting list last year.

6.30pm Meet two mates at Century to discuss a new fundraising idea. Lucy Goode and Judy Stephenson are spearheading an initiative I am sure everyone in the industry will want to get involved with. It's about art, but beyond that I'm not saying. Home very late!
