4.00am Bolt upright, wondering if anyone's remembered to put the tape in.
4.03am Slash and back to bed for more transmission nightmares.
7.00am Awake to Charlotte Green - that's the Today newsreader. Seven-year-old Georgie wants to show me her violin technique - after just three lessons. Quickly out of bed and into the bathroom. Maddie's knocking at the door asking me to ask her to spell "quadrilateral".
8.09am My train of choice is the District Line to read the papers. I can do four in 32 minutes. Can't remember a thing, of course. I always try to find a story that I could make a documentary about.
9.30am Office - waiting for the overnights. I've forbidden myself to look at them for at least two weeks so I'm not depressed/elated/confused by them. However, I can't resist and get Louise to casually leave them on the filing cabinet.
10.00am Schedules meeting. Poring over the competition to see if we can squeeze a fraction more advantage from our offering.
11.30am Darcus Howe, whose film Son of Mine is on More4 tonight, calls to say he's just had a wonderful spat with Joan Rivers on BBC radio. Joan was very upset. Good publicity, he chuckles.
12.00pm Meet the drama commissioning editors, who have a wicked idea for a drama-doc. If we can pull it off, it'll cause a real shit-fight. Just what we need.
1.00pm Constitutional around St James's Park. Choose 35-minute circuit because it's a beautiful day.
1.36pm Late for meeting with Peter Kosminsky (The Government Inspector) who's cooking up a big terrorist drama for Channel 4. He says, without blinking, that it'll be very, very expensive. But I know it'll be very, very good.
2.30pm To a screening of Penny Woolcock's new FilmFour project. Penny's a genius. It's what's called a "money screening" - that means all the financiers are invited. The film's not finished but we know it's going to be a gem. We leave very excited.
6.45pm District Line.
8.00pm More4 News.
8.30pm Maddie and Georgie in bed.
9.00pm Darcus' film.
10.00pm Spin through prospective More4 programmes on DVDs.
11.00pm The Last Word.
12.00am Quick call to make sure the tape's in the machine. Oblivion.
