Name: Tim Lindsay Job: Chairman, Publicis UK Group Professional mission: Do good stuff for our clients Personal mantra: Avoid childcare

7.00am Alarm. Wake up confused. Oh marvellous, work ... zzzzz.

7.10am Alarm. Wake up confused. Roll out of bed, do 50 sit-ups, 50 trunk curls before body realises what's happening (keeps dodgy back quiescent).

7.20am Downstairs, effusive canine greeting, very cheering. Solitary espresso and BBC News while wife and children slumber on upstairs.

7.30am Hmmm, motorbike, or settle back in soft leather upholstery of luxury motor? Remember motor is expensively crocked and in garage.

7.31am Quick blast down Westway to 82 Baker Street (at strictly legal speeds, officer). Very invigorating.

7.45am Nourishing bacon sandwich in Blandfords.

7.55am Happy New Years all round with management team. We all sit round a big "hub" table so it's a bit like an everlasting dinner party (actually a serious and successful innovation to ensure a joined-up, multidisciplinary team ethic).

9.00am First workflow meeting of the year. Nothing has changed since 24 December. Except, a couple of our clients have had really good Christmasses.

10.30am E-mail, open all those cards from attention-seekers trying to be different, people who don't celebrate Christmas and people who plain missed the post. Spend ten minutes worrying about the fair allocation of World Cup entertainment duties before remembering I'm the chairman.

11.00am Asda status, followed by Fidelity, followed by Pernod Ricard. Lots to do, big opportunities.

1.00pm Lunch with someone that we're trying to hire. Gaze longingly at wine list. Only 27 days to go. He's going to come. Yippee!

2.00pm Review agenda for new-business meeting tomorrow. She wants to work with us but we need to give her a decent excuse.

2.30pm People meetings, AAR meetings, Happy New Year phone calls, agency tour. Gosh, where is everyone?

5.30pm Catch-up with Rick (Bendel, chief operating officer, Publicis Worldwide), talk about Asda meeting next week.

7.00pm Swim in Park Club pool.

8.00pm Home to bosom of loving family - all out at a movie (well, not the dogs, obviously). Can watch Arsenal vs Manchester United with clear conscience.

10.00pm Supper, talk, news, read, sleep.
