Close-up: My Life in Advertising - Steve Stretton, Archibald Ingall Stretton

Name: Steve Stretton

Job: Founding partner, Archibald Ingall Stretton

The reason I got into advertising was ... I read a book about it when I was 14 and that was it. I really must get round to reading another book.

The campaign I'm most proud of working on is ... my first spot for Commodore computers. The pride wasn't in the idea or the execution (both questionable, to say the least), simply the fact that my family could sit round the telly and say: "Our Steve did that."

And the campaign I pretend I wasn't responsible for is ... as if I'm going to answer that. The gut-wrenching embarrassment that I felt still sits in the pit of my stomach as I read it was Turkey of The Week.

My favourite campaign created by someone else is ... "beer at home means Davenports", circa 1970.

The best moment of my career so far was ... the DMA Awards 2010.

While the most embarrassing moment was ... several moments at the DMA Awards 2010.

The best celebrity I've worked with on a campaign is ... Stephen Fry. Lovely man.

The person I'd most like to work with in the industry is ... any client who's reading this who feels like giving us a nice budget to do anything we like.

The person who's had the biggest influence on my career is ... my mother. I wouldn't know what a pun was if it wasn't for her.

If I wasn't working in advertising, I'd be ... central midfield, trying to save Coventry City from relegation.

In ten years' time, I'll be ... happy.
