COI invites pitch for £5.5m 'voter' brief

The Electoral Commission is holding a pitch to find a team of agencies to create a £5.5 million integrated campaign to encourage people to register to vote.

COI has invited three teams - comprising a creative, digital and media planning agency - from each of the relevant rosters to compete.

Farm is pitching with glue and Experience; Harrison Troughton Wunderman with Wheel and Manning Gottlieb OMD. DFGW is teamed with Red Nomad and MindShare.

The business is expected to be worth £5.5 million over three years. The budget could increase to as much as £3 million per year, but that depends on the number of elections that are held in that period.

Agencies have been briefed to devise a strategy aimed at increasing awareness of the voting system and the need for people to register to vote.

This marks a significant change in the Government's strategy, which previously targeted people much closer to election time and encouraged them to go to the polls.
