COI opens talks with agency teams about £1.4m Acas account

Acas, the Government's employment arbitration service, is lining up agencies to run a campaign promoting it as more than a troubleshooter for major industrial disputes.

COI Communications is managing the contest for the integrated assignment involving creative and direct marketing agencies and media specialists. The account is worth £1.4 million.

Three teams are pitching: Mustoes, Mediaedge:cia and SMP; WCRS, Claydon Heeley Jones Mason and ZenithOptimedia, and Grey London, Tullo Marshall Warren and MediaVest.

The purpose of the campaign is to help employers and employees understand the benefit of using Acas' services to improve employment relations and prevent disputes.

Mary-Ann Auckland, the head of communications at Acas, said: "Our aim is for Acas to be the first point of call, not the last-chance saloon in the minds of our customers. Prevention is better than cure in good employment relations and we can provide advice, information and training to help employers and employees get it right."
