Columbia TriStar Films, the film distributor owned by Sony Pictures, has put its pounds 12 million UK media account up for pitch.
The pitch is believed to include the company's Columbia Video and Columbia Pictures arms. Columbia Pictures has distributed films such as Snatch, The End of the Affair and Erin Brokovich.
The incumbents on the account are Zenith Media, which handles the media buying, and Saatchi & Saatchi, which is the media planning agency. It is not clear if Columbia is looking at merging the two disciplines and appointing a sole media agency.
The UK review is running at the same time as the pitch for Sony Pictures Entertainment's dollars 250 million US media account, which is currently held by Universal McCann. The US review was called following the installment of the new marketing chief, Jeff Blake. Universal is repitching alongside a number of undisclosed agencies.
Zenith has handled the media buying account for Columbia TriStar Films for more than ten years and was appointed to handle the Home Video business in 1999, taking the account from Lansdown Conquest.
The review of Columbia TriStar follows the recently aborted pitch by Universal International Pictures.
