Cosmo editor's job goes to ACP-Natmag editorial director

LONDON - Cosmopolitan has a new editor after The National Magazine Company appointed Louise Court, editorial director of its weekly magazines joint venture ACP-Natmag and a former editor of Best.

The appointment comes two months after the surprise news that Cosmopolitan editor Sam Baker was leaving to take the same position at Hachette Filipacchi's Red.

Court was a showbusiness writer at Express Newspapers before joining Woman's Own as assistant editor in 1990. In 1994, she joined Best and was promoted to editor in 1998. She became editorial director of ACP-Natmag, which owns Best, Reveal and Real People, in 2005.

Duncan Edwards, chief executive of NatMags, said: "Louise is an exceptional journalist and has proved over many years her enormous skill as an editor. At the same time, she is a big personality and will be a brilliant leader for a magazine that is the voice of young women in Britain."

The monthly glossy's circulation dropped 4.2% over six months to 442,384, according to the ABC figures for January-June this year.
