Cotton Quits FCB for JWT

- Tom Cotton, the worldwide account director for all AT&T business at Foote, Cone & Belding, New York, has left the agency to join J. Walter Thompson, New York.

- Tom Cotton, the worldwide account director for all AT&T business at Foote, Cone & Belding, New York, has left the agency to join J. Walter Thompson, New York.

Cotton will take on the £42 million ($70 million) Merrill Lynch account, which JWT won following a review last June.

The AT&T account will be overseen by Charlie Taney, president of FCB, until a replacement for Cotton is found. Taney as been part of the AT&T account team since he led the 1993 pitch that brought the account into the agency.
