Coty retains JWT to £70 million Rimmel account

LONDON - Coty, the international cosmetics company, has retained JWT to handle the £70 million global advertising account for its Rimmel London range.

The agency won the business following a pitch against Fallon London and Laird & Partners, the New York-based creative agency that specialises in fashion and luxury brands.

Having retained the account, JWT will continue to produce a number of campaigns for Rimmel that promotes the brand across Europe and the US.

The agency will also be responsible for creating a series of integrated campaigns that help boost the brand's profile in emerging markets such as Asia and Australasia.

JWT has worked on Rimmel's advertising business for 11 years. The agency was first appointed to the account in 1997, following a pitch that also involved Bartle Bogle Hegarty, Ammirati Puris Lintas and Testa International.

During its time working on the account, JWT has produced a number of notable TV spots featuring the supermodel Kate Moss, who signed a deal to become the brand's spokeswoman in 2001.

Rimmel has also used Lily Cole and Sophie Ellis-Bextor to promote the brand in recent campaigns, and has additionally signed up Coco Rocha and Georgia May Jagger to appear in upcoming ads.
