Courtier takes control of Mediaedge:cia's US operations

LONDON - Charles Courtier, Mediaedge:cia's worldwide chairman is to take control of the agency's operations across the US and Canada, replacing Steve Lanzano who departs for sister WPP Group agency MindShare.

Lanzano is moving to MindShare to take up the role of worldwide media services director after five years as chief executive for North America.

"I'm excited about the opportunity to return to my account management roots with one of the premier brands in the world. I look forward to doing what gives me the most professional satisfaction: building client brands and teams at both a domestic and global level," he said.

Courtier paid tribute to Lanzano's achievements. "Steve has made a very significant contribution across many areas in the development of Mediaedge:cia over the past five years," he said.

"I fully support his decision to return to what he truly loves doing: client management. I am excited to be taking on an even more active role in leading this agency in the most important market on the world."

At the same time, Initiative Media executive vice-president and director of local broadcast Kathy Crawford joins MindShare as president of local broadcast, overseeing that network's growing $1bn-plus local media buying.
