Coventry has rebranded ahead of taking the helm as UK City of Culture in 2021.
"This is the city where movement began," a voiceover says, highlighting the area’s rich automotive, musical and cultural heritage, including Coventry City’s FA Cup win in 1987. The spot champions the city as a place of change, rebuilt after the devastation of World War Two.
Soundtracked by Grammy and Golden Globe composer nominee (and Coventry native) Clint Mansell, the film was directed by Ewan Jones Morris through Friends Electric.
The rebrand was inspired by brutalist elements and modernist architecture. The identity celebrates Coventry's 2021 programme, which "will establish a template for a different kind of city", according to Uncommon.
