Leonardo, Leo Burnett's direct marketing agency, has poached the Bates UK director, John Crouch, to be its client services director.
Crouch, who has 12 years experience of advertising and direct marketing, will help to develop Leonardo's Procter & Gamble and Kellogg accounts.
He will also work closely with Leonardo's sister agencies, Leo Burnett and Hardreality, on increasing group-wide business.
At Bates UK, Crouch held the position of board director, responsible for running the pounds 8 million Vodafone Retail business, Flextech TV, Centre Parcs and Hyundai.
He joined Bates in 1997 from Limbo, where he ran the British Gas and Apple Computer business. Before Limbo he worked at Payne Stracey, where he was responsible for the Nissan account.
Crouch also has experience of working with dotcoms. During his time at Bates, he had responsibility for developing dotcom business for 141, Bates' below-the-line agency.
Steve Barton, a partner at Leonardo, said: 'John is among the best in the business and will play a key role in the future of the agency. He will bring us strategic insight and he embodies the spirit we want here - of having the craft skills and the expertise behind them.'
Leonardo relaunched last year with a new management team, which was headed by Barton and Gary Sharpen, the former creative director of Saatchi & Saatchi Integrated, Saatchis' through-the-line division.
