D&AD: Creative calendar 2004-2005

Here's a guide to the best events of the coming year: 13 MAY D&AD talentpool launch Log on to www.dandad. org/talentpool for the online launch of D&AD talentpool, a network and showcase of the world's best emerging talent in design and advertising. 13-26 MAY 28 JUNE-1 JULY D&AD Congress A three-week celebration of design and advertising, for everyone with a stake in creativity. The programme includes: 17-19 MAY Sector Showcases Three exhibitions showcasing D&AD Awards entries in the automotive, fashion and telecoms sectors. 22-23 MAY D&AD Awards Nominations Exhibition A free exhibition of all work nominated for the D&AD Awards. There will also be free tours for schools and students by leading creatives. 24-25 MAY Billingsgate Lectures The film director and producer Sir Alan Parker is interviewed by Richard Seymour. Dr John Kao, the first professor of creativity at Harvard, is introduced by Lord Heseltine and speaks on "transcending innovation". 24-25 MAY D&AD Workout Two days of practical workshops that give clients and creatives a chance to flex their creative muscles. 26 MAY D&AD Awards The D&AD Award winners, selected from the 23,000 items entered from 58 nations, will be announced before an audience of 1,700 at a glittering ceremony and dinner. 28-30 JUNE D&AD New Blood Exhibition and Events Showcasing the best graduate work from more than 70 colleges as well as exhibitions of D&AD Student Awards Nominations and D&AD Award winners. Includes five Lifeblood Lectures, Portfolio Surgeries, The Clinic, a networking session for educators and industry, and D&AD Awards Review talk. 1 JULY D&AD training and advice sessions for graduates and young creatives Sessions will cover copyright and protection, starting up in business, presentation skills, interview techniques, portfolio development and opportunities to speak directly with senior practitioners. 1 JULY D&AD Student Awards Selected from a record 2,500 entries, the winners of the D&AD Student Pencils, a prize pot of almost £70,000 and three WPP bursaries will be announced before an audience of industry professionals. The D&AD Student Awards Annual, which is sent to 3,000 leading creatives is also launched. By invitation only. The shortlist will be selected from the D & AD Student Awards nominees and a series of interviews will determine the winners. 15 JUNE 2005 Marketing Society Awards The pinnacle of the awards calendar for marketers is held at Le Meridien Grosvenor House. The awards celebrate leading marketing campaigns, including an appreciation of all marketing techniques and advertising creativity.
