Dare appoints joint planning directors

Dare has promoted Nick Emmel and Toby Horry as joint planning directors, giving them responsibility formerly held by the planning partner, John Owen.

Owen, who will retain his job title, will focus on general management at Dare, as well as working with the Cossette UK group, including Miles Calcraft Briginshaw Duffy, on cross-agency strategy.

The Canadian marketing services group bought Dare this year for a potential £30 million. At the time, the Cossette chairman, Claude Lessard, told Campaign that he planned to pull the group's four UK companies - MCBD, Dare, Elvis and Band & Brown - closer together and elect a UK president to oversee the group.

Emmel, who joined Dare in 2005, was promoted to the position of planning director in January. Horry joined in December 2006 as a senior planner.

Owen said: "Nick has a strong direct marketing background and Toby comes from the above-the-line world -their complementary skills make them a great team."
