David Davies lands Esprit role at Emap

Emap has promoted David Davies, the managing director of its women's weekly Grazia, to be the managing director of its Esprit division as part of a restructure of Emap Consumer Media.

Davies will continue to be responsible for Grazia, but will also oversee other titles, including Yours, the women's lifestyle magazine aimed at a 40-plus readership, and parenting and pregnancy titles such as Mother & Baby.

Emap Esprit was previously part of Emap Communications, but will move under the Emap Consumer Media banner. As an additional part of the restructure, Top Sante is moving from Emap Elan to the Esprit division.

The reorganisation comes as Emap folds two of its titles - Slimming and Health Plus.

Grazia will continue to sit within the Elan unit. Apart from Grazia, all Emap Elan's other titles remain the responsibility of the division's managing director, Dawn Bebe. These include More, New Woman and Bliss.

Emap confirmed the closure of Slimming and Health Plus earlier this week.

The move is affecting 19 staff. Slimming's circulation in the second half of 2005 was 42,245, down 34.6 per cent year on year while Health Plus was selling around 64,000 copies in the second half of 2005.
