DDB picks up South African Airways job

South African Airways has appointed DDB London to its global advertising account, which is backed by an estimated £20 million spend. The incumbent on the account is McCann Erickson.

The agency picked up the account after a joint pitch with the South Africa-based The Jupiter Drawing Room against JWT, Ogilvy & Mather and Publicis.

DDB London will manage the account and co-ordinate the international development. The agency's New York, Germany and China offices will also work on the account. However, The Jupiter Drawing Room will assume responsibility for developing all creative work. The new campaign will break early next year.

Richard Morris, the business development director at DDB London, said: "We are delighted South African Airways has chosen DDB London and our partners at The Jupiter Drawing Room as its new agency network.

SAA represents a great opportunity to work with an exciting and innovative brand and it's a brief we're looking forward to getting our teeth into."
