Mark Denton is leaving Godman, where he has been directing for

almost two years, to join Blink.

Denton is a prolific commercials director who began his career as an

advertising creative. He was one of the founders of Simons Palmer Denton

Clemmow & Johnson, from which he and his then partner, Chris Palmer,

were ousted in 1994.

While at Godman, Denton directed spots for clients including Royal Mail,

Thomas Cook, the Silver Spoon Company, Co-operative Retail Services,

Homebase and Lucozade Low Calorie. Although he has carved a successful

niche as a comedy director, Denton is now keen to branch out into other

areas.

’I have hand-crafted a pigeonhole for myself,’ Denton said. ’When I was

a creative, I used to work on everything from sanpro to cars and I liked

the variety. I keep getting itchy feet and although I had great support

at Godman, I need to relaunch myself and the best way to do it is from a

different hillock.’

James Studholme, the managing director of Blink, said: ’Mark is

underrated because he does what he does so brilliantly. He has a

distinctive film voice and he now has the confidence to broaden

out.’

Denton added: ’James is bloody good and he’s the best at getting

directors in front of you and making you think twice about them.’

Denton will be produced by Jane Fitch, who also joins Blink from Godman.
