Deutsch LA wins US VW ad account

LONDON - Deutsch LA has won the US ad account for VW, beating Goodby Silverstein & Partners in a shoot-out.

Deutsch’s pitch placed a huge emphasis on digital, according to reports, and the agency inherits the account from Miami's Crispin Porter & Bogusky, which had handled the account since 2005.

Deutsch has been without a car client since it lost the account for GM’s Saturn brand in 2007.

Last week, Deutsch’s parent company, Interpublic announced that Deutsch would absorb Lowe’s New York office.

The other agencies which made VW’s shortlist were DDB and Wieden & Kennedy Portland.

The size of the account was not revealed, but VW spent $204 million on advertising last year, 19 per cent higher than 2007, according to TNS Media Intelligence.
