Diary: Ad luminaries may wish to buy Cracknell lunch

Andrew Cracknell is probably about to become adland's favourite person. He's been commissioned to write a book called Fifty Icons Of Advertising. What's more, he gets to decide who makes the cut and who doesn't.

The former Bates UK executive creative director and Lintas chairman says: "If anyone wants to make nominations, I'm happy to hear them. Even if it's of themselves." We wonder who will call him first.

Meanwhile, Cracknell could do with some help in researching the famously unsuccessful 1957 commercial "you're never alone with a Strand", one of his all-time favourites, as background for a novel. You can reach him at andrew.cracknell@blueyonder.co.uk.
