DIARY: Adland amped up for the Nabs Battle of the Bands yearly face-off

Forget Pop Stars, move over Fame Academy and eat your heart out Simon Cowell.

As anyone who's anyone in adland will tell you, there's only one talent competition that really matters and it's winging its way to Po Na Na Hammersmith Palais.

Yes, you've guessed it, Nabs' annual Battle of the Bands is back and promises to be more rockin', more rollin' and more fiercely contested than ever.

Up for grabs at the evening, which will be compered and judged by Xfm, are the Best Band and Best Original Song awards.

In no particular order, the five bands competing are: Paper Bag from TBWA\London; Telegraphonics from The Daily Telegraph; Fractured from BHWG Proximity; Vegas from TBWA\GGT Direct and Ruocco featuring various artists.

Since rocking it up for the Telegraph sales conference in Cannes, Telegraphonics are being tipped as favourites with their self-styled "rock with funk overtones".

Also making a special appearance as the warm-up group following their success last year is The Artist Formerly Known as Bates from the now defunct Bates UK.

Doors open at 6.30pm on 7 October. Tickets are £12 in advance and £15 on the night. For more information, contact Janet Tweedie at Nabs on (020) 7299 2872.
