Diary: Adland gets pat on back and gives itself one too

Adland has once again proved that it's full of narcissists, but also that some agencies are actually fun to work in, while others even try to give something back.

The release of this year's 100 Best Companies To Work For supplement in The Sunday Times included four advertising agencies. DDB was ranked 86th, Bartle Bogle Hegarty 85th, Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO 57th and Iris tenth, its second successive year in the top ten, after more than 800 companies took part in the UK's biggest survey of employee opinion.

As well as the list, there were a number of categories in which agencies got special mentions. In one such category, "The Best For Giving Something Back", BBH drew plaudits for big companies, while Elvis was named in the small companies section.

However, despite the praise, it's unlikely that any of the agencies mentioned will be picking up too many modesty awards in the near future - by midday on Monday, every agency included in the list had a press release on Campaign's desk.

It's also worth noting that while AMV, BBH and DDB all acknowledged each other in their respective releases, not one of them paid tribute to Iris' achievement.

Good to see the divide between traditional and integrated is as strong as ever.
