Diary: Advertising's main men get Brooker treatment

The latest anti-advertising rant doing the rounds on the internet focuses not on the ads' creators, but their choices of leading men.

Entitled "The 10 Biggest Cocks in Advertising" (youtube.com/watch?v=wiwmYjk9ARA), the rant has been lifted from Charlie Brooker's BBC4 programme Screenwipe.

Guardian readers and Screenwipe viewers will know that Brooker doesn't pull his punches, and his countdown has a pop at campaigns including T-Mobile, from Saatchi & Saatchi; BT, from Abbott Mead Vickers BBDO; and JWT's latest offering for Optivita.

Brooker describes T-Mobile's leading man as "a self-satisfied fuck-wipe, strutting his way around marshmallow town".

He also picks on Ray Winstone's "Well, don't look at me - I'm not going to tell you what to do" in the Optivita ad, but topping the charts is VCCP's launch work for Coke Zero, with the TV spot's leading men being dismissed as "absolute wankers" by Brooker.
