Diary: Banks gets a real taste of how other half eats

Banks Hoggins O'Shea/FCB is reviving the ad lunch of the 80s but with a budget from the "noughties" thanks to a new agency initiative called lottery lunching.

Each month, the staff enters a draw for a lunch with one of the agency's top management. But just because someone wins lunch with the chief executive, John Banks, that's no guarantee of a luxury dining experience. Oh no.

Another lucky dip decides their eatery. So far this has resulted in the visit of Banks to Pizza Express - a first for the elder statesman of advertising, who was bemused to find that the only red on offer was a rather abrasive Valpolicella.

Whatever next, will Banks be spotted in Joe's Cafe puffing on a cigar and persuading staff at the greasy spoon to cook his eggs Florentine?
